New technologies such as hybrid power and fuel cells are beginning to appear in motorsport via endurance racing. As a partner to several innovative projects, Michelin has already produced the tyres that will equip the futuristic Deltawing prototype at next June’s Le Mans 24 Hours.

Despite last week’s announcement by Peugeot of its decision to pull out of the discipline, the new World Endurance Championship (WEC) is gradually taking shape. Toyota’s LMP1 prototype will be unveiled officially at Le Castellet, France, tomorrow.
Recent rumours that Peugeot will not contest the new FIA World Endurance Championship have been confirmed by the French carmaker today.
One year after Guy Fréquelin’s replacement at the helm of Citroën Racing by Olivier Quesnel in January 2009, he was also named chief of Peugeot Sport where he took over from Michel Barge. That move saw him take control of the motorsport programmes of both PSA brands. From today, however, he will be able to focus solely on Peugeot’s sporting interests.
