The FIA World Council met today in India. Decisions included date swaps for the Bahrain and Japan rounds of the 2012 World Endurance Championship.
The Bahrain 6 Hours will now take place on Saturday, September 29, while the date set aside for the Mont Fuji 6 Hours is now Sunday, October 14. As was the case this year, the 2012 race at Spa will be held on the Saturday.
Otherwise, the provisional 2012 WEC remains unchanged, with the only remaining unknown being the date for the visit to China which could be November 11 or 18, while the circuit has yet to be specified.
Entries for the WEC are open from December 19, 2011, until January 18, 2012. The selection committee will then convene on January 25 and the official entry list for the 2012 World Endurance Championship will be published on February 2.
LMP1 manufacturers entered for the WEC 2012 will be authorised to run a third car at Le Mans (subject to approval by the selection committee). This car will be eligible to score championship points. However, only the results of that manufacturer’s two best-placed cars will be taken into consideration with regard to championship points.
