Five rounds for the 2012 Le Mans Series

The ninth running of the Le Mans Series will feature a five-round calendar. Racing will kick off in the south of France and conclude in the Algarve.

True to tradition, the 2012 LMS will begin with a two-day official test at Le Castellet, in the south of France. However, LMP1 prototypes will not be eligible for next year’s series alongside the LMP2 prototypes, Pro and Am LM GTEs, FLMs (which will be called ‘LMPC’) and GTCs.

Le Mans Series 2012The 2012 campaign will start at Le Castellet at the end of March before visiting Zolder (Belgium) for round two in the middle of May and late July’s trip to the UK (Donington Park). Action will resume at Brno (Czech Republic) in September before coming to an end at Portugal’s Autodromo do Algarve. All five rounds will be six-hour races.

This year saw the different Teams’ titles go to Rebellion Racing (LMP1), Greaves Motorsport (LMP2), AF Corse (LM GTE Pro) and Imsa-Performance-Matmut (LM GTE Am), while the Drivers’ crowns went to Collard/Jousse, Kimber-Smith/Ojjeh, Fisichella/Bruni and Narac/Armindo. The MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge was won by Pescarolo Team (prototypes) and AF Corse (GT).
