The last ILMC race of the 2011 season started at 11h00am (local time). Pole sitter Sébastien Bourdais (No°7 Peugeot) stayed in front of the pack for the first few laps, as first Allan McNish (No°2 Audi) and then Timo Bernhard (No°1 Audi) worked their way past the other front row starter, Franck Montagny (No°8 Peugeot).
McNish caught up with Bourdais and was pushing him hard, even glancing off a Ferrari on lap 7 and damaging a rear wheel cover in the process. The Scot finally forced his way past Bourdais on lap 17, before making a pit stop for fuel and new rear bodywork on lap 30.
After one hour of hard racing, Timo Bernhard (No°1 Audi) has now taken over the lead, followed in turn by Montagny (No°8 Peugeot) and Bourdais (No°7 Peugeot). The N°12 Lola-Toyota is in 4th place, ahead of the N°2 Audi.
