Victory for Audi/MICHELIN at Spa, too!
The 63rd Spa 24 Hours, one of the world’s longest-existing endurance races, was won by Audi. The WRT-run R8 LMS of Franchi/Ekström/Scheider took the top prize ahead of a BMW Z4 and a Mercedes AMG SLS.

In a week’s time, the 60 or so GT runners entered for the 2011 Spa 24 Hours will begin free practice ahead of the Belgian classic. The race is the highlight of the new Blancpain Endurance Series.
During the summer months, it’s on the western side of the Atlantic that all the endurance racing action is happening. No fewer than five rounds of the American Le Mans Series are scheduled between the beginning of July and early September. The next clash will be in Canada, at Mosport, Ontario.
MICHELIN came away from Imola with three one-two success in the Italian race’s four classes: LMP1 with Peugeot, LM GTE Pro with Ferrari and LM GTE Am with Porsche.

After its victory at Spa and its defeat at Le Mans, Peugeot Sport has gone back ahead of Audi Sport in terms of win numbers this year thanks to first and second places at Imola, home of the fourth round of the 2011 ILMC. The N°71 and N°51 AF Corse cars handed a similar result to Ferrari on home soil in the LM GTE Pro class.

With three hours of the six-hour race still to go, the two Peugeot 908/Michelins top the provisional order at Imola ahead of the two Audi R18s and Rebellion Racing’s two Lola-Toyotas.
