A fresh challenge for Kronos Racing

It’s been a busy few days for Kronos Racing. Following a win on the Tour de Corse Corsica on Saturday with Thierry Neuville, the Belgian outfit’s Lola-Aston Martin has been invited to contest June’s Le Mans 24 Hours.

Over the past few days, Kronos Racing has had two major events to celebrate. First of all, Belgian youngster Thierry Neuville steered one of its 207 S2000s to victory on last week’s Tour de Corse, round three of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Kronos Racing’s impressive record in rallying already include the 2006 world title with Loeb/Elena, runner-up honours the same year in the WRC Manufacturers’ championship, the Junior world title in 2005 and the IRC title in 2008.

But Kronos Racing has considerable experience of circuit racing, too. In the late 1990s, it competed in touring cars and endurance, claiming wins at the Spa 24 Hours in 1999 (with the Peugeot 306 GTi of Bouvy/Collard/Beltoise) and 2000 (with the 306 GTi of Bouvy/Mollekens/Defourny).

This year sees Kronos Racing return to the world of endurance racing with the ex-Signature Lola Aston Martin. The Belgian team was the first reserve LMP entry for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, and Marc Van Dalen decided to send the car to April’s test day (assisted by staff from Marc VDS Racing) in order to qualify his three drivers, Vanina Ickx, Maxime Martin and Bas Leinders. Kronos Racing’s name now features on the official entry list for the 79th edition of the French classic.

And that’s good news in another way, since Kronos Racing will have the only lady driver in this year’s race !
