Kronos first in the queue

The Kronos Racing Lola-Aston Martin is first on the waiting list should one of the LMP teams withdraw its entry for the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours. It was therefore important for the Belgian operation to attend today’s test.

“Have you heard if anyone intends dropping out?” asked Marc Van Dalen, the boss of Kronos Racing. “It’s not an easy situation for us. We don’t know whether we will be invited to take part in the race in June or not. In the meantime, we still need to look for sponsors in case we do get the green light…”

Two hours into this morning’s test session, the N°22 Lola-Aston Martin was still in its pits. “We’ve got a great deal of work to do. The car was in a really bad state when we received it. Our objective today is to make sure that Maxime Martin completes his mandatory 10 laps to be eligible for the le Mans 24 Hours.”

Today, the car is being looked after by the Belgian Marc VDS Racing team. However, if it does receive an invitation to attend the race in June, the technical staff will be a mix of VDS and Kronos racing personnel. For those who didn’t know, Kronos Racing won the 2006 World Rally Championship with Sébastien Loeb. This year, it is running two Peugeot 207 S2000s in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
