OAK Racing has signed up Japan’s Shinji Nakano who will share the team’s N°49 LMP2 prototype with the young Nicolas de Crem.
Stéphane Sarrazin recorded Peugeot Sport’s fastest time of Sunday’s pre-Le Mans test day. The N°8 Peugeot 908 completed the session just two-tenths of a second off the pace of the best-placed Audi, while the N°7 sister car notched up the highest number of laps over the two sessions (117 laps, 1,594km).
The fastest times of last weekend’s two pre-Le Mans test sessions were posted by Romain Dumas and Tom Kristensen in the new Audi R18 TDi.
Highlights of Peugeot Sport’s run at the Le Mans 24 Hours test day
The long-awaited Test Day before the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours has answered some of the many questions that were being asked following significant changes to the technical regulations since last season. Today’s timesheets were finally topped by the N°3 Audi, while the fastest cars in the LMP2 and LMGTE classes were the N°26 Oreca-Nissan and the N°89 Ferrari.
Exactly 38 cars are testing on MICHELIN rubber today. Their objective is to validate the choice of tyres they will have for the Le Mans 24 Hours in a little less than six weeks’ time.
The Kronos Racing Lola-Aston Martin is first on the waiting list should one of the LMP teams withdraw its entry for the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours. It was therefore important for the Belgian operation to attend today’s test.
The factory Corvette Racing team is at Le Mans for the test day. They are running the C6.R usually entered by Larbre Competition.
The ACO organised a kart race yesterday evening at the Alain Prost track which is located within the main circuit complex. Thanks to Jean-François Yvon (OAK Racing), LeMansLive finished ninth out of 23 starters.
