Audi’s important test programme last week in Florida saw two cars out on the track, as well as an R15 TDi which served as a benchmark.
MICHELIN stayed over at Sebring with the technician who usually works with Audi on hand to evaluate the 2011 tyres and validate the company’s range for June’s Le Mans 24 Hours.
As expected, the track was faster after the race, so the best time posted by the Audi R18 needed to be compared alongside the benchmark laps of the Audi R15 TDi which the team left in the States after the 12 Hours of Sebring. One of the two R18s concentrated on endurance testing over the three days. On the other R18, Audi’s engineers notably worked through a variety of set-ups and evolutions. The range of tyres for Le Mans has been validated.
The next test session on Audi’s programme is at Le Castellet, France (April 20-21), just before the official Test Day at Le Mans (April 24).
