Porsche has taken the wraps off its new GT3 RSR, while the Ferrari 458 GTC recently made its track debut. BMW is to build two new M3 GTs for the 2011 ALMS which will also star two Lamborghini LP 560 GTs.

Although it sports relatively few changes compared with the car that dominated the GT2 field in 2010, the ’2011-spec’ Porsche GT3 RSR which took part in the recent Michelin test at Magny-Cours, France, features a new aerodynamic package (bumper, bonnet). Also, the width of the front wheels has been increased from 11 to 12 inches, while the four-litre flat-six engine now delivers 455 horsepower.

Meanwhile, the new Michelotto-developed Ferrari 458 GTC took to the track for the first time at Fiorano, Italy, at the end of last week. The car that is poised to fly to Scuderia flag in endurance racing is based on the 458 Italia.

The newly-created West Racing Team profited from October’s visit to Road Atlanta, USA (Georgia), for Petit Le Mans to announce its intention to campaign a brace of Yokohama-backed Lamborghini LP 560 GTs in the 2011 ALMS. The cars are due to make their debut at Sebring, Florida, and the team’s target is to earn a place on the grid for the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours.

Last but by no means least, Rahal-Letterman Racing has been renamed and will be known from now on as BMW Team RLR. The operation is building two BMW M3 GTs for the 2011 season. BMW Team Schnitzer will run the M3 GTs seen in Europe, but BMW is waiting for confirmation of the regulations before it seals its entries for the 24-hour races at Le Mans, the Nürburgring and Spa, as well as for the ILMC.
