Tom Walkinshaw

Tom Walkinshaw

From his very early days in Formula Ford, Tom was always an out-and-out racer and, as a driver, will best be remembered for his career in touring car racing which notably bagged success in the Spa 24 Hours, in 1981 and 1984.

Having had the privilege to work – and learn – with Tom during his days as a team boss in Formula 1, I will never forget the buzz when Tom Walkinshaw Racing won Le Mans with a TWR-developed Porsche in 1996, while his F1 operation (Ligier) was out in Canada!

His other major endurance racing credentials are of course his sportscar and IMSA campaigns for Jaguar which bagged world titles in 1987, 1988 and 1991, plus victory in the Le Mans and Daytona 24-hour classics in 1988 and 1990.

It goes without saying that Tom will be sadly missed.
