The penultimate round of the American Le Mans Series at Mosport, Canada, was won by Romain Dumas and Klaus Graf. The podium was rounded off by Highcroft Racing and the Autocon Lola, but the race was interrupted for half-an-hour at the end.

Romain Dumas et Klaus Graf
After finishing second the previous weekend, the Cytosport Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder collected its second win of the season in Canada in the hands of Klaus Graf and Romain Dumas. It was the Frenchman’s return to the wheel of the prototype which he helped steer to the LMP2 title in 2007 and 2008.
Dumas was tasked with starting the race and he soon built up a handy lead over Cytosport’s rivals before handing over the N°6 Porsche shortly before mid-distance to pole man Klaus Graf who finished off the job.
The N°37 Intersport Lola (Field/Field) and N°16 Dyson Lola (Dyson/Smith) were both forced to start from the back of the grid but managed to fight their way onto the provisional podium after an hour’s action. The two prototypes then fell back again, following a technical problem during its pit stop in the case of the N°37 car and after a tangle for the N°16 machine.
Championship leaders Simon Pagenaud, David Brabham and Highcroft Racing chose to play it safe and ended up crossing the line ahead of the N°12 Autocon Lola (Burgess/Mowlen). Jonny Cocker (4th, Lola Drayson) was once again accredited with the fastest race lap.
The GT class provided another nail-biting clash, with the N°92 BMW, N°45 Porsche and the N°62 Ferrari covered by a mere four tenths of a second before the interruption. A well-timed splash-and-dash stop for the Flying Lizard car enabled it to get the better of the Risi Competizione Ferrari, with Long/Bergmeister ultimately finishing ahead of Bruni/Vilander.
The 2010 ALMS campaign ends in a month’s time with a visit to Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans which will also be the second round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Challenge.
