Well there were no sun-kissed islands or journeys to the other side of the globe for Tom who spent his time off with his family at his home in Monaco, plus a few days in the charming fishing village of Skagen in northern Denmark.

At the beginning of July, he attended Britain’s Wimbledon tennis tournament before taking part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Sussex, England, where he performed a parade drive in his Audi R15 TDI.

It was then off to Hamburg, Germany, for the Audi Motorsport Press Club gathering where Audi’s drivers, a number of German celebs and representatives of the media were given a chance to enjoy a cooking demonstration by Karlheinz Hauser in the city’s celebrated Seven Seas restaurant.

On a more serious issue, Tom Kristensen was an ambassador of mid-July’s e-safety campaign organised by the FIA at Millbrook, England. This annual event was attended by more than 300 delegates and journalists who were able to view the very latest automotive safety systems. Tom gave a number of driving demonstrations and was able to sample different braking systems (ESC, ABS, etc.).

Then, at the beginning of August, Tom hooked up with his Audi team-mate Allan McNish for the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix which features a menu of races and historic racing car parades through the streets of the Danish capital. Tom and Allan were guests of honour.

In a couple of weeks’ time, though, Mr. Le Mans will be returning to his daytime job when Audi resumes its world class endurance programme at Silverstone!
