The Clermont-Ferrand based tyre manufacturer did justice to its inclusion in Sebring’s Hall of Fame thanks to a 12th consecutive win in the 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as victory in the LMP2 and LMGT2 classes.

Serge Grisin, the manager of Michelin Competition’s four-wheel programmes, looks back at the firm’s successful trip to Florida: “Our new tyres all worked very well and delivered the sort of performance we had been expecting. The medium-compound slick was used for three quarters of the race, up until around 8:30pm when the temperature began to dip, making it possible to switch to the soft tyre.”

They were very consistent, too, making double stinting possible in LMP1, and even triple stints in LMP2. We saw a great battle in GT2 where it took quick, consistent tyres for our partner to beat the BMWs which are very fast. Our partners were very pleased with the new wider Michelin tyre.”

Our work at Sebring isn’t over yet, since several teams – including Peugeot and Audi – will be staying on early next week to work on set-ups and tyres in readiness for Le Mans.
